Privacy Policy

ResumePass ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website resume-ats.online and the ResumePass application. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

By using our service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password. If you sign up with a .edu address for the Student plan we store that address to verify eligibility.

Resume and job description content

To provide ATS scoring, keyword analysis, and AI rewrites, you upload or paste resume text and job descriptions. This content is transmitted to our AI provider for processing. Resumes may contain personal information such as your name, contact details, work history, and education. You choose what to include; we recommend you do not include sensitive categories of data (government ID numbers, financial account details, health information) in uploaded documents.

Usage data

We automatically collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URLs, and timestamps. This helps us diagnose errors and improve the service.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number, CVV, or bank account details. We receive a Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.

Cookies and local storage

When you first visit ResumePass a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You can choose:

• Essential only — we set only the cookies required to keep you signed in and remember your theme preference. No analytics.
• Accept all — we also set analytics cookies that help us understand how people navigate the site so we can improve it. No personal data is sold or shared for advertising.

Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage. You can change it at any time by clearing your site data in your browser settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the service — score resumes, generate rewrites, run job searches, and store your resume versions.
• Process payments — create and manage your subscription via Stripe.
• Send transactional emails — account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
• Improve the service — analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to fix bugs and build features.
• Legal compliance — respond to lawful requests from authorities when required.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your resume content to train AI models beyond processing your individual request.

3. AI Processing

Resume scoring and rewrite features are powered by large language model APIs (currently Anthropic Claude and/or OpenAI). When you use these features your resume text and the job description are sent to the respective API provider solely to generate a response for you. We have data processing agreements in place with these providers. Please review their privacy policies for details on how they handle API data:

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We share data with the following categories of service providers:

• Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, and hosting infrastructure.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI) — resume and job description processing.
• Analytics — we may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool. No data is sold or shared for advertising.

All providers are contractually bound to process your data only to deliver the services we have engaged them for and to apply appropriate security measures.

5. Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion to allow recovery.
• Stored resume versions are deleted when you delete them or when your account is deleted.
• Server logs are retained for up to 12 months for security and debugging purposes.
• Stripe billing records are retained as required by financial regulations.

6. Security

We use HTTPS for all data in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive fields, and access controls limiting who can reach production data. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised contact us immediately at support@resume-ats.online.

7. Your Privacy Rights

All US residents

You have the right to:

• Know — request details about what personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
• Correct — ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
• Delete — ask us to delete your account and personal data (some data may be retained as required by law).
• Opt out of sale — we do not sell personal data, so this right is already fulfilled.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the right to data portability, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To submit a verifiable consumer request, email support@resume-ats.online with the subject line "Privacy Request — California." We will respond within 45 days as required by law.

All other users

To exercise any of the rights above, email support@resume-ats.online with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

ResumePass is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at support@resume-ats.online if you have concerns.

9. Data Location

ResumePass is operated in the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. All data we collect is processed and stored in the United States. By using the service you consent to your data being processed in the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
